If you want to see the majority of large scale street art and graffiti in Bordeaux you have to venture out of the centre into the suburbs. There you’ll find abandoned buildings and old decrepit walls covered in artwork.

Although there isn’t much large scale street art or graffiti in the centre of Bordeaux, I did manage to find a few locations. One such place, slap bang in the centre appears to be a designated graffiti wall. I arrived just as a bunch of artists were adding some new work. I asked them where I could find more street art in the centre of Bordeaux. They said that there was almost nothing in the centre, but that I would have more chance of finding pieces in the suburbs.

It’s not widely known but Bristol and the French city Bordeaux have been twinned since 1947. During a recent trip there I wanted to see the kinds of street art that could be found around the city, and how they compare to street art from Bristol.
This is the first of a few posts with photos of the street art I found.
